  • WAKE UP IT’S MONDAY AND I NEED YOUR HELP. I took the weekend off from BOOK YELLING so that your brains would be more fresh for it today. The first two weeks of a book’s life are vitally important to ITS ENTIRE EXISTENCE FOR ETERNITY. Like how many book stores will pick it up, how many more will be printed, etc. So naturally I’m going to do whatever I can to get it in front of as many eyeballs as possible. I’ve had an amazing outpouring of support from family and friends (THANK YOU!!!) but every @amazon review, every shared image, every Insta story helps. So if you can look into your soul and find it within yourself to show your support for my brand new book “Get It Together!” by sharing it on social, writing me a review, or yelling at your friends irl to buy it, I would be eternally grateful. For just [no] pennies a day, you too can make a difference in the life of a [fully grown adult human male] child [who lives inside your phone and speaks to you directly]. So what are you waiting for, get out of that fluffy bed, shake off your weekend baggage, and begin screaming at everyone around you to BUY THIS BOOK IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Okay bye I’m sorry. Love, Orlando. Photo @zekeruelas x @prestel_usa #GetItTogetherOrlando #victim #bookyelling

  • Just one more day in New York and I couldn’t have asked for a better trip and a better launch for my book (avail at the link-in-prof). And magically I’ve been here in the few days sandwiched between Frozen-Pirate-Bonez-Winter and Sweaty-Steamed-Street-Garbage-Summer. It’s been a gorgeous spring visit, filled with flowers, freshness, and excitement. If you’d like to recreate my trip, simply get dumped and laid off your job simultaneously, have a terrible depressing year, write a book, and then somehow manage to schedule your book launch in the five days of spring that happen in New York every year. IT’S THAT EASY! Now excuse me while I go waddle around this beautiful city... #orlaNYdo

  • I try to steer away from sharing photos of overexposed places (cough cough - infinity room, cough cough - The Broad). But this building is really a work of art. I’ve avoided visiting these spaces around the World Trade Center for years because of how touristy and crowded they are. As you can imagine, growing up in a place like @yosemitenps makes you kind of resent all things tourist. But exploring this area yesterday was a refreshing tour of beautiful, challenging architecture (this transit hub) and incredibly impressive landscape architecture (the 9/11 Memorial). It’s kind of amazing how much thoughtful design arose from tragedy. The 9/11 Memorial really is beautiful and somber and an amazing place to reflect and remember. It is exactly what it should be. And this building, designed by Santiago Calatrava, is edgy and interesting even though it’s been designed specifically for the masses, people from all over the world with varying tastes and interests. I love that the designers of the sites around the World Trade Center took risks. They ended up creating something sublime. #orlaNYdo

  • It’s Friday, which can only mean one thing. It’s time to slam some wine, crank up that Fresh Air with Terry Gross, head to the kitchen and stare lovingly at my new book, “Get It Together!” (avail at the link-in-prof!). I had literally the most insane night of my life last night. HUNDREDS of people showed up to my New York book signing with @westelm at their glamorous Chelsea store. At first I was scared, because it’s a lot of pressure to meet that many people, be fun, and sign books as fast as you can without rushing people. BUT! It was the most fun night ever and everyone I met was amazing. Proof that the people who follow this account truly are the best of the best. Funny, interesting, kind. So many people gave so many generous compliments. I still can’t believe that many people came. LIKE WHAT IF THIS HAS ALL BEEN A DREAM FROM WHICH I AM ABOUT TO WAKE UP? OR WHAT IF I DON’T EVEN EXIST AND THIS HAS ALL BEEN A FEVER DREAM HALLUCINATION INSIDE YOUR PHONE??? AM I A HOLOGRAM? ON-STAGE AT COACHELLA 2019?????? HAS THE FULLY-GROWN HUMAN MAN WHO LIVES IN YOUR PHONE EVER BEEN REAL? Anyway, if this was real, thank you to @westelm for throwing me the most incredibly beautiful New York party and making me feel like Meghan Markle post-Royal wedding. And even more thanks to the brave souls who showed up to meet me. Was an honor and a treat to get to see your faces in person and hear your stories. Was truly a night I will never forget. • My dear friend @em_henderson let me shoot some promo shots for “Get It Together!” (avail at the link-in-prof) in her lovely Los Angeles home. When it comes to shelf styling, I’m happy to say I learned from the best. Speaking of friends, in a few short hours I’ll be meeting a lot more new friends at my first public book signing (details below)! I’m so excited people have started to receive their pre-ordered books and tons of people are (GASP!) actually reading it! As you know, many design books don’t get read, so I’m happy people are leafing through this and getting some LOLs. My homie @edroste told me one of his favorite things about the book is you can hop around it, you don’t have to read it from front to back, you can really start anywhere. IT’S TRULY A CUSTOMIZABLE CHOOSE-YOUR-OWN-ADVENTURE!!! Speaking of adventure, if you’re in New York, stop by my signing this evening at West Elm (6:30, 117 West 17th Street, Manhattan). Enjoy some wine, get your book signed, and see me wear a truly ridiculous hand-painted neon-yellow-and-pink suit. Lots of my oldest and bestest will be there partying, so stop by and take a stroll down a stranger’s memory lane. Also, I painted a huge fun people-doodle photo backdrop so there’s that. Okay bye. • My best friend from childhood snapped this pic and sent it to me. She took it while standing in the front yard of our old house on Lost Arrow Road (named for Lost Arrow Spire, which you can see here to the right of Yosemite Falls). The original Casa Soria is still vacant so she tried to sneak into my old bedroom and have a little reading sesh in there but the door was (uncharacteristically for this small town) locked. I received this photo while on set shooting in New York, another monumental place that has played a leading role in my life, and it was such a lovely reminder of all the wonderful worlds I’ve gotten to inhabit thus far in my lifetime, how far I have come from being a cynical teen reading “The Andy Warhol Diaries” in my bedroom, staring out my window at this waterfall, waiting for my life to start someday when I moved somewhere cool like in New York. So many people have sent gestures like this, from sharing photos to just hashtagging #GetItTogetherOrlando. The energy and outpouring isn’t lost on me. I’m trying to figure out how to absorb it - there are so few moments in life when you receive this kind of unabashed love and energy - without getting addicted to it (I’m deathly afraid of having a postpartum moment after all this book excitement ends, which I’m sure is inevitable). Thanks to anyone who has put themselves out there by sharing my book, reading my book, writing a review, or sending me a message about it. It’s truly a wonderful feeling and an amazing gift to give someone. #SensitiveBoysCrying #Victim #Drama #GetItTogetherOrlando
